Programs

While the foundation of all TCR Sport Lab programs is based upon scientific testing and training, we also acknowledge that there is an "art" to sport. Our group programs involve the combination of lab and field testing so that both you and your coaches know your capabilities, training focus and what needs to be worked on from the very outset. TCR coaches will be there to guide you through each and every facet of your program. Our goal is simply to help you learn, be the best you can absolutely be and have fun at the same time! We offer the following programs

Computrainer Cycle Program

Four new programs are offered for 2010-2011

Registration begins Sept 1st.

Fall Program Start: Third week of October, 16 weeks (2 week break at Christmas) Calgary's Best Indoor Cycling Experience!

All of TCR's Cycle Classes are Power Based programs with top coaches in an inviting environment This is our 5th year of running Computrainer Indoor Cycling Classes. All of our classes use Power (watts) as the key cycling gauge. You will virtually ride courses from around the world, do individual time trials, group intervals and of course have some fun!

SPORT Computrainer

The Sport level Computrainer program is intended for participants looking for structured intervals and short virtual group rides with a social atmosphere. The intensity of this program will be moderate to high and individualized based on ability level*. The 80 minute class will consist of a warm-up, drills, intervals and / or courses and a cool-down. Up to 8 people can ride in each class.

Past participants can expect the SPORT program to be similar to previous years, but with less focus on high intensity intervals, and geared toward a wider range of cyclists.

Participants looking for a more advanced program should register in the RACE program.

*Individualization is done by adjusting the set body weight and/or Threshold power.

RACE Computrainer

The Race program is a step up in intensity relative to this year's Sport Program. Riders can be grouped into pairs on separate monitors for each class instead of 8 on the projection screen. Workouts will be focused on higher intensities, supra-threshold time trials and race simulations. Additional information about pedaling biomechanics and more detailed power analysis will be available.

This program is suited to participants that have:
  • Previous Computrainer experience
  • Race goals such as Road Racing, Mountain Bike Racing and Triathlon
  • Familiar with power-based / threshold training

Weekend Aerobic Computrainer

The Saturday / Sunday Computrainer program is focused on longer, more aerobic rides in a social setting. These classes will be 2-3 hours in duration. The class will consist of long Computrainer courses and / or self-directed power workouts. TCR coaches will be present during these classes for course, music and computrainer set-up. Drills and high intensity intervals will not be included in these aerobic sessions.

Participants are also welcome to bring their own trainers on a drop-in basis at a cost of $25 + GST. Space is limited and be offered on a first come, first serve basis.

SPIN - TRX

One of the best methods to improve your power on the bike is off-season strength training. However, many cyclists and triathletes do not have the time to do a dedicated strength session in their weekly schedule. We have the solution! Spin - TRX is a combination Computrainer Spin class and resistance training program. The popular TRX program was developed by the U.S. Navy SEALs. It is a revolutionary method of leveraged bodyweight exercise. You will be able to safely perform hundreds of exercises that build power, strength, flexibility, balance, mobility, and prevent injuries, all at the intensity you choose.

We have designed a 90 min class that combines Computrainer Cycling and specific TRX exercises. You can expect to ride and then get off the bike for TRX exercises throughout the class at varying intervals. This program is dynamic, challenging and fun!

TRX is the bomb...after doing it a couple times my strength and body has adapted very quickly." -Chris Lieto Ironman Triathlete

I have limited time...I have to be very efficient and effective in any training that I do... I believe that 3x a week for 30 minutes on the TRX may help prevent overuse injuries, create more power/strength that leads to time improvements." -Tyler Stewart Ironman Champion

2010-2011 - October - February Schedule

Prices are the same for the Sport, Race, Weekend and Spin-TRX Programs

TCR Policy and Procedures

*5% discount for individuals registering for more than one class per week.
** $30 charge for individuals who do not have the Computrainer Cadence Assembly.

*** There will be a two week break over the Christmas holidays (December 24, 2010 - January 9, 2011). No classes will be held on Statutory holidays; a make-up class will be added.

Make-up Classes

For 2010-2011, our policy regarding missed classes has changed. In the event of a missed class, participants are allowed to show up to a class other than one they are registered for, for a maximum of one class per program block. When making up for a missed class, space is allotted on a first-come-first-served basis, and is never guaranteed. Make ups can only be redeemed within the time-frame of the program block in which the classed was missed.

TCR Installments & Refunds

Installment payments will be subject to a $5.00 administration fee per transaction. Refunds will be subject to a 15% administration fee prior to the commencement of the program. No refunds will be given after the start of the program. TCR is not responsible for missed classes.

Master's Cycling Team

Our new venture designed for cycling enthusiasts! Our goal is to start a grass roots cycling team
with the focus of skill development and introduction to racing. This team is open to men and women!

Road Cycling and Triathlon have continually grown over the past 10 years. Much of this growth is in the Masters (30 years +) age groups. However, unlike other sports, there has been little to promote and practice the skills of Road Riding and Racing. Most of the experienced riders and racers in Calgary have learned to ride well and via trial and error. Many of these riders have learned their skills by getting "barked at" on rides or through the experience of riding thousands of miles.
There is a better and more fun way to do this!

Group riding and skill-focused practices will be a part of our team. We will practice the efficiency of peloton riding, skills of bike handling and tactics for racing at our team rides.
